The Binding Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining perfect binding machines, 3-knife trimmers, laminators, flat cutters, coil binding machines, and case binding equipment to ensure the production of high-quality bound materials. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong math skills, the ability to measure products accurately with a ruler, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot machinery to maintain efficient production processes.

1. Perfect Binding Operation:
   • Set up and operate perfect binding machines to bind printed materials according to job specifications.
   • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or issues and make adjustments as necessary.
   • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of the binding machines to ensure optimal performance.
2. 3-Knife Trimmer Operation:
   • Set up and operate 3-knife trimmers to trim bound materials to specified dimensions.
   • Ensure accurate trimming by regularly checking dimensions and making adjustments as needed.
   • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of trimming equipment.
3. Laminating Operation:
   • Operate laminators to apply protective coatings to printed materials.
   • Monitor the quality of lamination and make adjustments to ensure consistency and quality.
   • Maintain laminating equipment and perform regular cleaning and minor repairs.
4. Flat Cutter Operation:
   • Set up and operate flat cutters to cut printed materials to specified sizes.

5. Coil Binding Operation:

The Material Handler plays a key role in supporting shipping, fulfillment, production, and manual bookbinding operations. This role involves tasks such as pick/pack, collating, cartoning, counting, and ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment. The Material Handler is also responsible for manual bookbinding tasks, including coiling and case making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel to assist with inventory tracking and reporting.

1. Order Fulfillment and Shipping:
   • Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment according to customer specifications.
   • Verify orders for accuracy and quality before shipping.
   • Utilize shipping software and systems to generate labels and track shipments.
2. Material Handling and Organization:
   • Collate, count, and organize materials to prepare for production and shipping.
   • Perform cartoning and packaging tasks, ensuring materials are securely packed and labeled accurately.
   • Maintain an organized and efficient workspace by following company protocols for material storage.
3. Manual Bookbinding:
   • Perform coiling operations, such as inserting coils into pre-punched materials and finishing the bind.
   • Complete case-making tasks for hardcover books, including gluing, assembling, and finishing covers.
   • Inspect finished bound materials to ensure they meet company quality standards.
4. Inventory Management:
   • Assist in tracking inventory levels and reporting discrepancies to the supervisor.
   • Use Microsoft Excel to input data, update inventory records, and generate basic reports.
   • Performing a regular cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
5. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
   • Operate hand tools, scanners, and other equipment required for fulfillment, shipping, and binding tasks.
   • Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment as needed.
